8.- Explain how currents from the tropic affect climates far away:
WIND AND WATER
Without wind a water, the Earth would overheat. If you sit in the sun for a while on a hot day, you will feel warmer and warmer. The same thing could happen to the tropical regions of the Earth if wind and water did not help spread the sun's heat.
The Blowing Winds
In part, the EArth's rotation creates our winds. Because of it, air moves in an east-west direction, as the map at the end of the lastsections shows. Two other factors make air move in a north-south direction:
1.- Hot air rises and circulates toward regions where the air is not as hot.
2.- Cold air sink and moves toward regions where the air is warmer.
As a result, hot, mpist air from the Equator rises in the atmosphere, then moves toward the North Pole or the South Pole. Cold, dry air from the poles moves toward the Equator. This movement helps keep the Earth from overheating.
